STUDENT ENGAGMENT

The guiding philosophy behind Engaging Practices is to weave a variety of engagement principles into your everyday teaching repertoire. Engaging practices are defined by the degree of attention, curiosity, interest, optimism, and passion that your students display when they are learning or being instructed. We all know that learning improves when students are inquisitive, interested, or inspired;learning tends to suffer when students are bored, dispassionate, disaffected, or otherwise disengaged. I have yet to meet a teacher who wants to be boring.

Resilience is the ability to “bounce back” from difficult experiences. Resilience is not a trait that people either have or don't have. It involves behaviors, thoughts, and actions that can be learned and developed in anyone. Resiliency is a positive way of coping with adversity or distress. It is defined as an ability to recover from stress, conflict, failure, change, or an increase in responsibility. Resilience is encouraged by providing supportive relationships and resources that help personnel recuperate from stress, conflict, failure, or changes in responsibility. We’re interested in resilience as opposed to vulnerability, and concerned with enhancing wellness, prosperity, and good life skills that correlate to physical and psychological health.
